ASUS TUF F17 Gaming Laptop
Hello ladies and gentlemen today we're taking a look at a decent gaming laptop from ASUS, the new generation CPU and GPU ASUS TUF Gaming F17.We will talk about its specs and memory upgrade options. I'll show you how it performs in different games. We will discuss its pros and cons and in the end. We'll make a comprehensive conclusion so ladies and gentlemen sit back and enjoy.
I like to start my reviews with the screen because as for me it is one of the most important things about any laptop and honestly this one is definitely the best among those i've tested.
- It is a big 17.3 inch panel.
- It is IPS so the viewing angles are great.
- The refresh rate is 144hz so it's extremely smooth in games or any other activities.
- But the thing is that it is pretty dim and under-saturated.
- The brightness is only 250 nits.
- The color accuracy is at 62.5 percent as rgb gamut coverage
So, with its native screen you won't be able to edit photos and videos precisely the gaming experience will not be as pleasant as you'd want but it's still fine for a long lasting gaming sessions during travel for example or watching a movie in the bed but listen the laptop offers amazing connectivity including fast USB Type C HDMI port several usb type a's Ethernet Rj45 port for fast cable internet and a 3.5 combined auto jack so i'd recommend to build a badass full size gaming setup using a couple of external monitors your favorite mouse keyboard headphones and enjoy gaming process on a whole another level this laptop screen is big so it will be comfortable to use it as a third monitor in your setup and the advanced cooling system paired with this large form factor allows it to stay cool all the time even taking into account its incredibly powerful hardware and talking about hardware it's amazing.
The CPU we got is a
- 10 nanometers
- 8 quarts / 16 threads
- Intel Core i7
- The base frequency of this beast is 2.3 gigahertz
- Turbo Boost UpTo 4.6 GHz
- (which are very solid figures)
Now talking about the GPU in my opinion it does bottleneck the CPU a little when it comes to gaming overall Nvidia RTX 3050 ti is a great graphics card but this laptop shows pretty much the same fps figures as laptop with much worse CPUs i'd say that the best graphics card to pair with this intel Core i7 is Nvidia RTX 3060 or even 3070 but not 3050 ti but anyways it performs amazing in games and here is the list of games which i've tested personally on this gaming laptop which proves it the frame rates are high even all games were tested with the graphic setting set to high and the resolution at 1920 by 100 pixels.
- GTA V. 110fps
- Minecraft 130fps
- Fortnite 80fps
- World of tanks 110fps
- COD: Warzone 50fps
- PUBG 75fps
- Apex legends 100fps
- Cyberpunk 2077 40fps
- Diablo II [new] 75fps
- Sea of thieves 95fps
- The Witcher 3 100fps
- Battlefield V 90fps
- Far Cry 5 80fps
- RC: Valhalla 35fps
- Hitman 3 85fps
- Horizon Zero Dawn 55fps
- Metro Exodus 60fps
- RDR 2 40fps
- Dead by Daylight 85fps
- Watch Dogs: Legion 55fps
- Escape from Tarkove 70fps
- Forza Horizon 4 85fps
- Dota 2 115fps
Ladies and Gentlemen if you're interested in any other game please let me know about it ASAP in the comment section below because i'm gonna return this laptop in several days and also if this list is something you were looking for i'd really appreciate your support because i've spent about 30 hours installing and testing all these games for you this will really help
Thank You.
Now ladies and gentlemen talking about memory we're all good;
- 16 gigabytes of DDR 4 RAM
- Working in dual channel mode
- Upgradable upto 32GB total (2×16)
- 2 slots / 2×8 GB sticks installed
- 3200 megahertz speed
The maximum amount of memory it supports is 32 gigabytes tested personally but on paper they say it supports up to 64 gigabytes can't prove just keep in mind.
Now the internal storage the situation is even better ASUS TUF F17 comes with
- 512 GB M.2 NVMe SSD
- ×2 PCI-e M.2 SSD slots total
(Taking up one slot and there is also another one empty slot inside for fast upgrades just unscrew the rear cover and you're good to go)
I'm not sure what is the maximum amount of memory it supports but I've tested with 1 Terabyte Gen 4 SSD unit and it worked perfectly.
Now, the next thing I will tell you about is my personal feelings about several things: the keyboard, the touchpad and the design. The keyboard is full size with a number pad and the keys have nice tactile response during gaming tasks. I've never had any trouble hitting their own keys and typing text is also pretty pleasant. It's decent. It has RGB backlighting by the way so you can comfortably work at night. The touchpad is all right on this one. I actually thought it's garbage as most gaming laptops are but it's best among all for sure pretty big and accurate. The laptop's cover is made of aluminum which is really solid and everything else is plastic which I only recommend touching when your hands are clean. It also has a typical but unique gaming aggressive design. My overall mark for the exterior is 4.5 points out of 5. The weight of the machine is almost 2.6 kilograms and a thickness is just under 24 millimeters so it's not really a portable laptop plus taking into account its actual size and this big screen. I don't think it's a good choice for travelers honestly but ladies and gentlemen the battery life of this ASUS gaming laptop is surprisingly fantastic. This is that rare situation when the internal space of the laptop was designed thoughtfully. They didn't just include a serious cooling system inside which actually keeps the laptop cool and is really quiet but also the batteries are huge the laptop holds up to about 9 to 10 hours of work from a single charge browsing web almost 11 hours watching movies online just under 6 hours playing the long dark and about 8-9 hours in a mixed usage which is amazing. I've never seen something like this on a gaming machine before plus it has a fast charging technology which allows to charge this machine up to 50 in only 30 minutes which actually works.
Now ladies and gentlemen it's time to make a conclusion. I honestly enjoyed spending time with this laptop. It's powerful, high quality, solid , big , and stylish, suitable for any purposes starting with office work and personal needs and finishing with game streaming and architecture projects also.
The keyboard is cool. You can easily build a full-size gaming setup or bring it with you to another country with a bit of struggle of course because like it's really heavy but there is one controversial thing. I want to tell you about I honestly don't get white costs that much for thirteen hundred dollars. I will also tell you about more gaming laptops that will be available to you at the same price and even better gaming laptops as well as more gaming accessories. I will drop the link below so you can buy the gaming laptop at a reasonable price. In my opinion it is a much better option for the price although its built quality is not as premium but overall once again ASUS TUF F17 is amazing and if you have any questions about it or need help choosing a laptop in specific budget range let me know about it in the comment section below this.
